Purple Mist An incredibly nostalgic journey for every person that has grown up in post-Soviet Eastern Europe. The first song immediately transports you into the peaceful utopia the CCCP desired. The combination of innocent happy sounds and melancholic tones of a bygone era simulate the experience of growing up in Eastern Europe perfectly. This album fuels my imagination and warms me on the inside. Браво, Маяк. Favorite track: Романтика.

whillm Amazing album. Am grown up in the GDR and somehow this reminds me really about the aesthetics of my childhood era in a nostalgically sense. It’s a kind of feeling that people seem to share who’ve lived on the other side of the iron curtain, like sticking together and hope or dream together for a better world than currently living in, something of a „us world“ and not the individualistic I ego as tought by Thatcher and Reagon.

Thanks for reminding for that even while it’s good the regime ended

Маяк is a Ukrainian artist and one of the originators of the 'return' of sovietwave. The scene was closed off and roaming around on VK in groups like vk.com/soviet_wave for a long time remaining underground within the west with the majority of listeners and scene being across eastern european ex-soviet countries. This was before Bandcamp articles on the genre and made up stories.

It is of my upmost honor to be able to share with you all a piece of history otherwise not very known.

He has requested for this album to not be repressed and on his behalf for 25% of all vinyl sales go toward the humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
